"The experience in any soul’s journey is not to glorify or gratify the ego.
That should be the result of the experience.
This is self-evident.
But the purposes, the hopes, the desires, the ideals must be founded in spiritual truths that are eternal in their concept."

道德經第五章

天地不仁,以萬物為芻狗;
聖人不仁,以百姓為芻狗。
天地之間,其猶橐籥乎?
虛而不屈,動而愈出。
多言數窮,不如守中。

Dao De Jing Chapter 5 — Muller

5 — Heaven and Earth are not humane...

Heaven and Earth are not humane,
And regard the people as straw dogs.

The sage is not humane,
And regards all things as straw dogs.

The space between Heaven and Earth is just like a bellows:
Empty it, it is not exhausted.
Squeeze it and more comes out.
Investigating it with a lot of talks
Is not like holding to the centre.

5 — Arthur Waley

Heaven and Earth are ruthless;
To them, the Ten Thousand things are but as straw dogs.
The Sage too is ruthless;
To him, the people are but as straw dogs.
Yet Heaven and Earth and all that lies between
Is like a bellows
In that it is empty, but gives a supply that never fails.
Work it, and more comes out.
Whereas the force of words is soon spent.
Far better is it to keep what is in the heart.
