Without knowing oneself as what one truly is ~ all else is speculation.

(The Dao with no name) James Legge

The Dao, considered unchanging, has no name.
Though in its primordial simplicity it may be small, the whole world dares not deal with (one embodying) it as a minister. If a feudal prince or the king could guard and hold it, all would spontaneously submit themselves to him.
Heaven and Earth (under its guidance) unite together and send down the sweet dew, which, without the directions of men, reaches equally everywhere as of its own accord.
As soon as it proceeds to action, it has a name. When it once has that name, (men) can know to rest in it. When they know to rest in it, they can be free from all risks of failure and error.
The relation of the Dao to all the world is like that of the great rivers and seas to the streams from the valleys.
 1. 樸雖小, : Inserted. 本章王弼注多言「樸」,據河上公《注》本、馬王堆《老子乙》增。

Dao De Jing Chapter 32 - A. Charles Muller
32. The Way is always nameless...

The Way is always nameless.
And even though a sapling might be small
No one can make it be his subject.
If rulers could embody this principle
The myriad things would follow on their own.
Heaven and Earth would be in perfect accord
And rain sweet dew.
People, unable to deal with It on their own terms
Make adjustments;
And so you have the beginning of division into names.
Since there are already plenty of names
You should know where to stop.
Knowing where to stop, you can avoid danger.
The Way's existence in the world
Is like valley streams running into the rivers and seas.

क्रिया योग Kriyā (Sanskrit क्रिया, "action, deed, effort") Kriyā is a Sanskrit term, derived from the Sanskrit root, √kṛ, kri, meaning "to do". Kriyā means "action, deed, effort". The word karma is also derived from the Sanskrit root √kṛ (kri) कृ, meaning "to do, make, perform, accomplish, cause, effect, prepare, undertake". Karma is related to verbal Proto-Indo-European root *kwer- "to make, form". The root कृ, √kṛ (kri) is common in ancient Sanskrit literature and it is relied upon to explain ideas in Rigveda, other Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, the Epics of Hinduism.
