For this event, there is, in Japan, a custom to soak oneself in a 柚子 hot bath in order not to catch a cold in the winter.
柚子湯 or 柚子風呂 yuzu buro, Citrus Junos bath
The custom of sitting in 柚子湯 yuzu baths on the winter solstice originates from the Japanese tradition of adding seasonal plants to bath water for medicinal or therapeutic purposes as well as general enjoyment.  柚子湯 Yuzu baths, originating to 江戸時代, Edo jidai or 徳川時代, Tokugawa jidai, the Edo or Tokugawa period (1603–1867), may have been inspired by the 語呂合わせ, goroawase, lit. "phonetic matching" of the characters for the words 冬至 “winter solstice” and 湯治 “hot-spring cure”, both of which can be read as tōji.
