  • Gil fil tisserand brodeur du lanceur Ger & du voile de γῆ (Gê) Κᾰλῠψώ • (Kalupsṓ) Calypso, "she who conceals", a nymph who lived on the island of Ogygia, where, according to Homer's Odyssey, she detained Odysseus for seven years. Her name "Calypso" may derive from the Ancient Greek καλύπτω (kalyptō), meaning "to cover", "to conceal", or "to hide". According to Etymologicum Magnum, her name means "concealing the knowledge" (καλύπτουσα το διανοούμενον, kalýptousa to dianooúmenon), which – combined with the Homeric epithet δολόεσσα (dolóessa, meaning "subtle" or "wily") – justifies the reclusive character of Calypso and her island.

And the stars they glisten, glisten,
Seeming with bright eyes to listen—
For what listen they?'

VI AII (fil rouge)
  • 1950 (MCML)
  • 1050 (ML) Gille Coemgáin of King or Mormaer of Moray, a semi-autonomous kingdom centred on Inverness that stretched across the north of Scotland. He was burned to death, together with 50 of his men. He was the father of Lulach, a future King of Scotland, fostered by Mac Bethad mac Findlaích or Mac Bethad (the anglicised "MacBeth" is derived from and means "son of life"), whom he succeeded as Mac Bethad reportedly married Gille Coemgáin's widow, Gruoch Ingen Boite — either as a conquered enemy widow or a widow of an ally and kinsman, depending on who was responsible for the murder. Both scenarios are entirely credible, knowing archaic medieval customs - nothing exculpatory can be concluded from the marriage, whereas the adoption of the stepson may be a weightier indication.
  • AD 150 (CL) Year of the Consulship of Squilla and Vetus or, less frequently, year 903 ab Urbe conditā (“[in the year] from the city [of Rome] having been founded”) alternative form of AUC: from the foundation of Rome, now usually reckoned as 753 BCE. Marcus Gavius Squilla Gallicanus, a Roman senator, was also proconsular governor of Asia in 164/165.
  • 150 BCE Year of the Consulship of Flamininus and Acilius Balbus (or, less frequently, year 604 Ab urbe conditā)
  • c. 1050 BCE—商朝 Shang Dynasty ends in Ancient China, replaced by the 周朝 Zhou Dynasty.
  • 10500 BCE Flandrian interglacial (stage of the Holocene epoch (the present geological period), covering the period from around 12,000 years ago, at the end of the last glacial period to the present day. As such, it is in practice identical in span to the Holocene.
