1 All hexagrams naturally have only one of 16 hexagrams as their nuclear hexagram (as this is derived from only 4 lines) understood as "nuclear hexagrams" because they are the hexagram that exists inside the "nucleus" of a hexagram: the lower trigram of a nuclear hexagram consists of lines 2, 3 & 4 of the original hexagram, and the upper trigram consists of lines 3, 4 and 5 of the original hexagram. Some people mistakenly look at nuclear hexagrams in a 周易 casting as if it was some additional part of the divination process on its own, as if there was some random element to it which contributed to the 'fortune telling' itself. But the nuclear hexagram is static, every hexagram only has a single nuclear (though in the cases of Hexagram #1 and Hexagram #2, they are their own nuclear).

In fact, Nuclear Hexagrams are part of a system of clusters or connections between hexagramsThey are clustered as groups of common hexagrams which can be understood to interact in special ways. Their main practical use is for the purpose of contemplating the mysteries and deepening one's understanding of the 周易 as a whole and of the individual hexagrams. The relationship of the hexagrams connected by their nuclear provides important insights.

The 16 hexagrams that have this set of similar lines are: 1, 2, 23, 24, 27, 28, 37, 38, 39, 40, 43, 44, 53, 54, 63, & 64. They are hexagrams of the  and simultaneously, the nuclears of all the hexagrams.

In turn, these 16 hexagrams become only one of 4 hexagrams. 1, 2, 63, & 64, and there are always 4 hexagrams which share the same nuclear. 1 and 2 being pure yang and yin only become themselves when consulting the nuclear, and 63 and 64 only constantly become each other. We could extrapolate this into an aspect of the 4 seasons, the basic cycle of things: rise, peak, fall, depths. 64, 1, 63, 2. Furthermore, this correlates to those mysterious 4 recurring words in the "judgments" of the I Ching. 元亨,利貞 yuán xiǎng lì zhēn. These four words also correlating with the 4 seasons and the prototypical cycle.

The nuclear hexagram is the "core" of the particular hexagram, as well as what came before it. The core of its meaning. One has to "go" to the core's core and figure out which of these 4 hexagrams one ends at and thence, find the "motion" of the true answer. It helps to do this when being overwhelmed and pulled in different directions by various lines, the two hexagram meanings, etc. Simplicity is beauty. One should not dwell on details missing the bigger picture. One should just focus on the general hexagram meaning and how it changes.

In the nuclear the two lines, which overlap each other now, are complementary. Line 3, heaven-man with line 5, man-heaven. Line 2, man-earth with line 4 earth-man. Man lives on earth, but there is also earth in man: a sense of reality, an inner connection with tangible surroundings.

Nuclear hexagrams simplify things even further. We can make use of them as something like road signs.

六爻八卦上面的經稱為外卦,下面的經稱為內卦。 仍以火雷噬嗑為例進行說明,上面的經,就是外卦;下面的經,就是內卦

² Escape velocity: "All Along the Watchtower" 一 Master Robert, the Zimmer Man3
[Verse 1]
"There must be some way out of here"
Said the joker to the thief
"There's too much confusion
I can't get no relief
Businessmen, they drink my wine
Ploughmen dig my earth
None of them along the line
Know what any of it is worth"

[Verse 2]
"No reason to get excited"
The thief, he kindly spoke
"There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke
But you and I, we've been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hour is getting late"

[Verse 3]
All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Barefoot servants too
Outside, in the distance
A wildcat did growl
Two riders were approaching
The wind began to howl

the G in the equation is a constant. Specifically, it is Newton’s universal constant of gravity needed here to make the equation work. G is approximately equal to 6.67 × 10–11 metres3/(kg)(second)2. The escape velocity formula is independent of the properties of the escaping object. The only thing that matters is the mass and radius of the celestial body in question:
vₑ = √(2GM/R)

M is the mass of the planet, R is its radius, and G is the gravitational constant. It is equal to G = 6.674 × 10-11 N·m²/kg².

The formula for escape velocity, also known as the second cosmic velocity, is derived directly from the law of conservation of energy. At the moment of launch, the object has some potential energy PE and some kinetic energy KE. The energy at launch LE can be hence presented as follows:

PE + KE = -GMm/R + ½mv²

where m is the mass of the starting object, and v is the escape velocity.

When the object finally escapes, it is located so far from the planet that its potential energy is equal to zero. Also, it can have virtually no speed, so its kinetic energy is also equal to zero. That means that the total final energy is equal to:

PE + KE = 0 + 0 = 0

Because the total energy must be conserved, it means that the initial energy is also equal to zero. Simplifying the first equation, we get:

0 = -GMm/R + ½mv²

v = √(2GM/R)

3 A classic song from Bob Dylan’s John Wesley Harding. The meaning is cryptic; there have been theories of it being about everything from the Vietnam War to Armageddon. Some critics have noted parallels with Isaiah 21:5-9:

5: Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.
6: For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.
7: And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:
8: And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:
9: And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

Only Mr Dylan will ever really know.

Jimi Hendrix covered this song, and it led to one of the greatest cover versions of all time. Even Bob Dylan said he was a huge fan.
