An always available mode of expression though often sensed more as a background backup means and regularly relegated to a secondary involvement after the transfer of messages is almost entirely done through the verbal formulation  a chosen specialisation in the image of — as we adapt to the type of environment we come to — the right hemisphere that processes nonverbal stimuli such as those involving spatial, pictorial, and gestalt tasks while the left hemisphere involves the verbal stimuli involving analytical and reasoning tasks.

Nonverbal communication acts as a valued means by which children learn. In this sense, learning is not dependent on verbal communication; rather, it is nonverbal communication that serves as a primary means of not only organizing interpersonal interactions, but also conveying cultural values, and children learn how to participate in this system from a young age. A context-embeddedness is one aspect of nonverbal communication that aids in conveying precise and symbolic meanings.
