Vera
Borrowed in the nineteenth century from the Russian virtue name Ве́ра (Véra, “faith”).
By folk etymology, it has also been explained as Latin vera (“true”).
Ellen
Medieval English variant of Helen, from Ancient Greek Ἑλένη (Helénē, the feminine form of Ἕλενος (Hélenos), possibly from ἑλένη (helénē, “torch, shining”) — which is probably from Pre-Greek— or related to Σελήνη (Selḗnē, “moon”)); also used as a variant of Eleanor.
